Partners in Equity: How Canadian Period Brands Are Creating Change
On May 28th, we are working with communities across the country to celebrate and acknowledge Menstrual Health Day; a global day to take action by talking openly about periods, challenge stigma, and take action toward menstrual equity. At The Period Purse, we believe that this work doesn’t begin and end with one day, it’s a year-round effort, powered by community, education, and collective action.
This month, we’re proud to spotlight a few of our incredible Canadian product partners who are helping to build a more period-friendly world. These companies are doing more than just creating sustainable and inclusive period products, they are showing up for communities every day. Whether through product donations, awareness campaigns, or advocacy, each of these companies is making a real, tangible impact on menstrual equity in Canada.
“At The Period Purse, we believe in partnering with brands that take social justice seriously. We believe that everyone has a right to access quality, safe, and experience affirming supplies to help them have a healthy period. By joining us in support of these brands, you’re not just making a personal choice for better period care, you’re actively supporting access, dignity, and change for people who menstruate. Your buying power has an impact, and choosing companies that prioritize social good helps to strengthen the menstrual equity movement from every facet.”
– Kristy Van Hoven, Advocacy, Research and Communications Manager
Here’s how some of our trusted partners are marking Menstrual Health Day this year and how you can join them in supporting a future where every person can manage their period with dignity.
______
joni
joni is a true leader in the Canadian menstrual equity movement, building a brand rooted in access, inclusion, and social impact. Their plant-based, biodegradable bamboo pads and cotton tampons are free from added toxins and fragrances, offering a sustainable option without compromising comfort or care. joni believes period care should be accessible to everyone, and backs that belief by donating at least 2% of their revenue toward period product donations to equity-focused organizations across Canada like The Period Purse. By partnering with community groups, joni ensures that sustainable period care reaches those who need it most, creating meaningful impact in communities nationwide.
To celebrate Menstrual Health Day this year, joni is launching BLEED, a powerful anthology of real period stories written to be shared. This book highlights diverse voices and aims to challenge stigma by normalising conversations around menstruation. Importantly, 100% of profits from BLEED go directly to menstrual equity initiatives across North America. Make sure to keep an eye out on their socials and website for more information on May 28th, 2025.
